Alys writes genre fare for the romantic in all of us. She began her career in screenwriting with Lifetime’s 2019 hit Christmas in Louisiana, and continues to write for Hallmark, Lifetime, ViacomCBS, the U.K. and Australian markets, Passionflix, and others. Across linear television, streaming, and short-form video apps such as MyDrama, her film and television writing has been viewed over 150 million times.

In 2025, Alys was named a Netflix x Inevitable Foundation Visionary Fellow. She wrote and directed Beware C*ckblocking Ghosts, starring Tony-Nominee Julia Lester, Ruby Jay, and Reed Horstmann. A proof of concept short for her most recent genre mash-up obsession (horror rom-coms, naturally), it follows a teen who fight for her life when the ghost of her dead best friend becomes murderously jealous of her homecoming plans…

Awards & Recognitions

  • As a screenwriter, Alys Murray has won the 2022 Audience Choice Award at The New Orleans International Film Festival for New Orleans Noel.

    In 2021, she won the WriteMovies Romantic Comedy Award for her screenplay, STUDY DATE, which is a modern rom-com retelling of William Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost.
